Life's too short to read bad books...

We are a team of dedicated readers with a connection to a particular bookstore, now out of business after 20 years. Almost all of us were at one time employed there, many for several years. This bookstore brought us together as a community of readers sharing the love of good books.

We tried to provide a personal touch, because relationships with our customers were, to us, the bottom line. That small town feeling is unfortunately becoming a rarity in today's world.

The most popular destination in our store was the Employee Recommendations section (now The Front Shelves) where the employees displayed our personal recommendations. On these shelves, our customers could find out which titles the staff had enjoyed. Also valued was our willingness to be frank if a book was not up to our standards.

This web site was created to continue our book recommendation tradition, through which we hope to inspire more people to become readers and to encourage those who are already confirmed book lovers. We are not being paid by anyone to endorse books; rather, we share our honest opinions with the goal of helping others find enjoyable books to read.
